Susan Spano of the New York Times writes, "The village of Spring Lake has been developed to a large extent by Irish-Americans as a resort of elegance in the 1870's, and remains one of the loveliest enclaves on the Jersey Shore."

Much has been written about the beautiful borough of Spring Lake. An unhurried atmosphere of gracious living abounds in this picturesque oceanfront vacation spot. Spring Lake has become known as a Victorian resort community with its grand waterfront hotels and homes, several of which serve as romantic "Bed and Breakfasts".

Mary Higgins Clark, the author, has chosen Spring Lake as her home as well as the inspiration for "A Street Where You Live". In fact, she chose our firm, Childers Sotheby's International Realty, to buy her home here!

In fact, many famous public figures make our section of "The Jersey Shore" home.

Spring Lake is a popular, tranquil destination with over two miles along the Atlantic Ocean coastline and the longest non-commercial boardwalk in New Jersey. Beyond the sand dunes and boardwalk are wide, quiet streets with elegant homes with meticulously landscaped gardens dating back to Victorian times. The town's "Main Street" is Third Avenue with over sixty unique shops, boutiques, and gourmet restaurants. The beach and boardwalk are oriented toward couples and families.

One of the lovely and romantic Bed and Breakfasts would make a wonderful place to stay while we search for your perfect home.

Our personal favorites in Spring Lake are:

We recommend that you read a few great articles published in the Asbury Park Press. They are very informative and full of local color.

Spring Lake Heights is located just west of Spring Lake and was established as a working class community with diverse housing types.

The service oriented commercial area is located along Route 71 and serves the needs of the predominantly year-round residents. The "Heights" is home to The Spring Lake Golf Club, Fairway Mews Golf Community and several great restaurants.

The borough of Sea Girt was developed as an exclusive resort in the late 1800's with many impressive oceanfront estates.

Today Sea Girt is a quiet, year round elegant community with a 1 ½ mile boardwalk and a "small town" local commercial area.

Many sports figures, entertainers and professionals have found this exclusively elegant resort community an ideal haven to call their home.

Wall (Wall Township) is located inland from the beach and encompasses nearly 31 square miles of suburban and rural countryside. Most of the new construction in this region of southern Monmouth County of the past decade has occured here. Wall (Wall Township) has a variety of housing types, single family, condos, four season adult homes and riverfront homes.

The Route 34 and 35 corridors contain much of Walls commercial retail establishments and office space. The uninitiated might not realize this fact, because Wall has no post office. Public and private open space abounds.

The borough of Brielle is the southernmost municipality in Monmouth County and borders the Manasquan River. There are several distinct sections of Brielle; the portion along the Route 71 commercial corridor, the Manasquan Riverfront and Riverview Drive / Manasquan River Golf Club area.

There is a fine selection of year round single family homes as well as some unique condo and townhouse opportunities.

The borough of Manasquan is located on the Atlantic Ocean and the Manasquan River and Inlet from the Atlantic make up part of the towns southern border.

Manasquan's beach and unusual paved "boardwalk" on the sand are popular attractions for residents and visitors. Surfing is permitted on a section of the beach near the Inlet and is quite a popular spot.

The downtown has been enhanced with historically inspired lamps and brick pavers and provides a year round shopping experience.

The New Jersey Transit train station in Manasquan provides convenient transportation to Newark and New York and the southern most station in Bay Head.

Ocean County is the second largest county in the State and one of four New Jersey counties which border the Atlantic Ocean.

Development in Ocean County has traditionally occurred along the coastal beaches and in the Garden State Parkway and Route 9 corridors.

With the growing year round population, Ocean County 's economic base has become increasingly diverse, with a variety of industries now supplementing traditional tourist related business. In fact, over the past 10 years, Oceean County has had one of the fastest increases in new jobs in the State.

Despite the growth in population and employment, Ocean County maintains a vast amount of protected open space which will ensure a balanced land use in the future. Much of the area west of the Garden State Parkway contains large tracts of State Parks, Forests and Wildlife Management Areas. In addition, approximately 20,000. acres east of the Parkway are protected under the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge.

As always, the coast beaches of Ocean County are foremost among the County's attractions and continue to draw thousands of seasonal visitors to the area each year.

Point Pleasant Beach means many things to different people: A family oriented boardwalk full of rides, wheel games, food, colorful lights and views of bathers enjoying the Atlantic seashore.

The Point Pleasant Beach Boardwalk is over one mile long with arcades, amusements, entertainment, food stands, a beach train and many wonderful park benches to enjoy the beauty and splendor of the Atlantic Ocean and Manasquan River inlet. A number of hotels, motels and bed and breakfasts provide accomodations for the many seasonal visitors.

The Manasquan Inlet to the deep water fishing port provides for both recreational and commercial fishing . Fresh fish daily at the Fishermans Cooperative and any one of the many fine restaurants specializing in seafood, lobster, crab, and local fish in season.

Point Pleasant Borough is bordered by the Manasquan River on the north; the Metedeconk River, Barnegat Bay and Point Point Pleasant Beach and Bay Head on the east and makes up a large part of the "Greater Point Pleasant Area".

Take a look at a few great articles published in the Asbury Park Press. They are interesting and informative.

Or you can read the following New York Times article:

Bay Head is special in oh so many ways. It is often referred to as the "Crown Jewel" of the beachfront communities which stretch along the barrier island known as Barnegat Beach Island.

The Atlantic Ocean at our front door and the Barnegat Bay and Twilight Lake at the back door....The Best of both water worlds less than 400 feet apart! Sun bathing, kayaking, surfing, sailing, riding a bike, flying a kite or just sitting and watching the world go by in this quiet retreat. Bay Head has been well loved since the late 1800's by people who enjoy the Good Life!

What a unique place to live!

A "Quaint Country Village by The Sea" with Victorian architecture, stately shingled homes, about 1.4 miles of pristine beachfront, beautiful churches, and forty specialty shops with unique goods and services. You will find cute cafes, wonderful baked goods, great deli's and culinary delights of every form and fashion.

Bay Head Yacht Club, a private club founded in 1888 is one of the oldest yacht clubs in America and a focal point of the Barnegat Bay.

Many homes are sold by word of mouth before they ever hit the market due to the consistent demand and small supply of fine homes!

Read this entire article:

"When 14 reporters, six photographers and four editors spent the better part of Thursday, June 6, in Bay Head and Mantoloking, ........ shooting various scenes and people, then combined them with some stills for our first presentation. It's a start." It includes a short video essay.

Mantoloking is just south of Bay Head and is known for its quiet elegance, slow pace and high-priced residential homes. Known for its "peace and quiet", this jewel of the barrier island has no shortage of buyers willing to pay well over $5,000,000 for their oceanfront place in the sun.

Interested in a little history? Why not buy a copy of Mantoloking Through the Lense by Mantoloking author Anne Lewis Benedict and read it on the beach.

Brick (Brick Township) is located west of Point Pleasant Borough and has many shopping centers, movies, franchise food shops, gourmet restaurants as well as Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart, Target, and Kmart in addition to every type of service or business you might need.

There are many type of housing opportunities available in Brick. Single family, condos, townhouses, waterfront homes as well as several adult communities. The majority of the residents on the inland portion of Brick are year round residents.

Brick also includes a portion of the Barnegat Beach Barrier Island just south of Mantoloking to Normandy Beach. Curtis Point, South Mantoloking Beach, Dutchmans Point as well as a number of other fine Bay, lagoon and Oceanfront communities are actually part of Brick.

The Asbury Park Press has published several great articles on Brick which will give you a local perspective of the community. The series is very informative and full of local color.

Real Estate Tips
About Appraisals >Best Interests of the Buyer

Who represents the homebuyer in the transaction? The most common scenario is for homebuyers to purchase a home with the help of the seller's listing agent. In this case, known as "dual agent representation," the real estate agent assists both the sellers and the buyers. However, it is also possible for the buyers to ask another realtor to represent their interests exclusively, acting as the "buyer's agent," a service which is available at no additional cost to the homebuyer.

Any licensed real estate agent can act as your buyer's agent, helping you to locate and look at properties in your price range. However, if that real estate agent works for the same brokerage that is listing a particular property, dual agency or designated agent rules will then apply. The buyer's agent will advise the buyer if issues arise such as termite damage or significant material defects appearing on the home inspection report. If the home appraisal comes in at less than the asking price, the agent will represent the buyer's interest, working with the seller and the lender to negotiate a satisfactory resolution.
