He attended Point Pleasant Beach High School, then spent two years in the U.S. Army. He later graduated from Ocean County College with a Liberal Arts degree. While there, he served as Editor of the college newspaper, "The Viking News". He has been an active member of the community through coaching several different sports on many levels.
